🇵🇷 Reflecting on La Ruta Borikén: Where History, Heart, and Community Meet

On Saturday, 25-July-2026, our space transformed into a living journey across time, culture, and memory during our community event, La Ruta Borikén.

To capture the spirit of what took place, we share this poem written for the occasion:

La Ruta Borikén: Rostros del Tiempo

La historia comienza donde el monte toca el cielo,Un suspiro con ritmo que despierta nuestro suelo.¿Puedes oler la guanábana dulce, recién cortá,Y la tierra fértil donde la primera ruta fue trazá?¿Puedes escuchar al coquí en el suave atardecer,Mientras taínos y jíbaros comparten el mismo amanecer?Acércate y mira cómo las épocas se han unido,En los surcos de rostros que nunca se han rendido.Los símbolos pintados de una gracia ancestralSe mezclan con el sudor de la cordillera central—Batey y labranza en un mismo perfil,Cargando el trabajo duro con una sonrisa de abril.Ven y toca la madera del hogar que nos abraza,Saboría el humo y el arroz de nuestra plaza.Somos los tejedores del hilo que nos sostiene,Cargando las banderas que nuestra historia mantiene.Desde la raíz al meollo, el orgullo se expande,Con la luz del mañana haciendo que el alma agrade.

Bringing the Generations Together

The heart of La Ruta Borikén is the bridge between our ancestors—the Taíno roots, the Jíbaro traditions of the mountains, and the living families carrying these traditions forward today.

Seeing children engage with hands-on displays, families exploring the interactive stations together, and friends sharing smiles over sweet treats reminded us why this work matters. As the poem says: "Somos los tejedores del hilo que nos sostiene" (We are the weavers of the thread that sustains us).

Every visitor, donor, volunteer, and neighbor who stepped through our doors helped weave that thread a little tighter.
